Ford Transit DIY Conversion | Part 4 DIY Cedar Ceiling

Hello. Another important step is the completion of the van ceiling. I applied soundproofing to the sheet metal panels to reduce the noise level, then applied 3M Thinsulate synthetic fiber insulation, and finally covered everything with a vapour barrier. There is a lot of debate in the van community about whether a vapour barrier is necessary or not. Most people think not or at least decide to ignore the issue and not put one. A lot of moisture is generated from breathing and cooking inside a small space and controlling moisture is a necessity. Warming up the space and ventilating it are crucial steps, but preventing the remaining moisture from going through the insulation and condensing on the cold inner metal surface of the vehicle is also critical in order to prevent rust later. Anyway, you will see how I dealt with the problem in the video. Enjoy!
