Hello! I am making good progress with the build of our Ford Transit camper van. I recently tackled an important part of the project which is the construction of the bed platform. That takes a lot of the interior space since we decided on a permanent bed. It determines where everything else will be located in the remaining space available. I wanted the bed to be easily removable to allow easy access to the cargo area under the bed. That is where the electrical panel and the water tank and pump will be located. In case of an intervention needed I’ll have easy access. I also want to be able to carry large items and being able to open up the rear allows that. I decided to use three Ikea telescopic bed suport beams. These will support Ikea wood slats on which will rest the custom-made mattress. The whole assembly can be removed from the van in under two minutes as I demonstrate in the video, and will make for a very comfortable bed!
